It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards.

We live in this world

 in order always 

to learn industriously 

and to enlighten each other 

by means of discussion 

and to strive vigorously 

to promote the progress 

of science and the fine arts.

Man's inhumanity to man makes countless thousands mourn!
