It is by teaching that we teach ourselves, 

by relating that we observe, 

by affirming that we examine, 

by showing that we look, 

by writing that we think, 

by pumping that we draw water into the well.

from time to time 

a little more aware 

of the deeper, unnamed feelings 

which form the substratum of our being, 

to which we rarely penetrate; 

for our lives are mostly 

a constant evasion of ourselves.
