for it's not the same river 

and he's not the same man.

The hidden harmony is better than the obvious.

The eyes are more exact witnesses than the ears.

Eyes and ears are poor witnesses to people 

if they have uncultured souls.

Hide our ignorance as we will, 

an evening of wine soon reveals it.

when he achieves the seriousness of a child at play.
